Shaun Micallef, where is my pen?
Last night I finally had the pleasure of meeting my comedic idol, Shaun Micallef; the man who brought me David McGann, Quentin Welcher, TAYG, and even brought me a bowl of minestrone soup in a confusing dream I had back in the late 90s.
The comedy legend unbegrudgingly (some might even say willingly) signed my copy of his new book, The President’s Desk. A daring nudie run across the political landscape of the world’s most beloved superpower. Well that’s what the back cover says, I haven’t actually read it yet. Continue reading
The Worst Bitstrip Photos of All Time
Breaking the myths on asylum seekers
Asylum seekers have undergone incredible hardship in their native country, and make the tough decision to flee their home. In many cases, war and persecution simply leaves them displaced, giving them no choice in the matter. In desperation, they jump on a boat, and basically get the hell out of there in order to survive!
Whilst they may have suffered intolerably back home, most leave their shores with one thing in tact, hope. Hope for a new start, hope for a better life. Enter the Australian Government. Continue reading
Urgent Letter To Channel 9
I am writing to express my deepest condolences for you missing out on the exclusive rights to the Schappelle Corby story. It saddens me to know that you will not benefit from the ratings of this convicted drug smuggler, at a time where media profits are waning, especially in the television and print sectors.
I am also contacting you to announce my availability to partake in any activity (criminal or other) that may interest your network and your viewers. I am available 7 days a week and happy to travel, although being 6 foot 8 I would need an exit seat for overseas flights. Continue reading
Greg Hunt’s Facebook Fury After Great Barrier Reef Decision
The Facebook page of Federal Minister for the Environment, Greg Hunt, has gone crazy, shortly after his proposal to allow dumping of dredge spoil in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park was approved today.
There has been community outrage ever since the idea was first proposed, and with more than 200 scientists signing a letter urgently against it, the dumping seemed unlikely to be given the go-ahead.
But with the Marine Park Authority surprisingly approving the plan, angry Australian’s have taken to social media, and more specifically Mr Hunt’s Facebook profile, to let him have it! Continue reading
Will This Be The New Australian Flag?
So if Australia looks to change its flag under the current Government, do you think it might look something like this?
One things for sure, they won’t be going with the Aboriginal flag. Not because they’re racist, but because it features the sun, which is the Government’s worst enemy since it provides free energy! Continue reading
Hands off the ABC!
A letter recently sent to the Prime Minister:
To Mr Abbott,
Whilst I have numerous complaints in relation to the direction in which you and your party’s policies are taking Australia, I will contain myself to one issue which has triggered my writing this letter.
Your recent attack on our national broadcaster is nothing more than a grooming exercise, preparing the public no doubt for an attempt to cut funding to the ABC, one of the major sources of information for Australians who would like their news untouched by the Murdoch media and other news corporations pedalling a neo conservative agenda. Enough is enough
As the federal election draws nearer, the tactics used to win the votes of Australians are becoming more and more despicable. Fear mongering and other misleading tactics (not to mention outright lying) are now common place in Parliament House. Sadly, a large portion of Australians are now convinced that boat people pose a major risk to Australia, seemingly believing that every day hoards of “illegals” are descending upon our country, and that the situation is a “National emergency”.
When considering the actual challenges our country faces, boat people are NOT a major issue in Australia. . In reality, Tony Abbott and Kevin Rudd have defined Asylum Seekers arriving by boat as a problem and are now using the plight of the world’s most vulnerable people as a platform to try and win the next election. Our leaders should be working towards educating their people, rather than misinforming and scaring them. Continue reading
